Oddity

There was something very odd about the appearance of this polyester cotton shirt in the bright morning sunlight this morning.

The oddity, is perhaps best described as a faint shimmering, not visible in the illustration, a shimmering which seemed to be caused by the interaction of the fine, woven stripe with the grain of the cloth, much finer than the stripe and at right angles to it. Maybe the folds of the cloth and the shadows add to the eye's difficulties; there is just too much to hold in consciousness, all at one time.

If you click on the image, what you get is rather larger than life and, on this PC anyway, does not look much like it does in real life at all. The magnified white weave has quite lost the appearance it had in life. Which, inter alia, reminds one that you can't always scale things up or down and expect them still to work.

All credit to the Lumia telephone for doing as well as it did with this one handed shot.
