We were lucky enough to come across this chain saw art work yesterday, accidentally left behind by the artist, at the scene of operations, near the Dart River near New Bridge. Approximately gmaps 50.521544, -3.819973.
Still fresh, with a strong smell of pine resin, this despite it appearing to have been taken from a birch tree. We thought it would be a worthy addition to one of the windowsills of the house where we are presently staying. For how long will it keep its special parfum there?
I was pulled up a bit, not quite sure why, when I counted the rings and found that the branch from which the work had been cut was about ten years younger than I was.
Also by yet another failure of memory. I had thought we were quite near Castle Drogo, perched above the Dart. When actually it was miles and miles away, perched above the Teign.
