Celandines

I complained at reference 1 about the poor showing of celandines in the back garden this year.

But I am pleased to be able to report today that there is a much better show in east Devon, from where the illustration left was taken. You can tell it is properly rural from the glimpse of the sack barrow, bottom right.

Road side grass banks even fuller of dandelions. All very colourful, not like Surrey at all.

PS: I am reminded that our Surrey celandines were originally dug out of a hedgerow behind Exminster, on the Exe estuary, also Devon. Perhaps Devon is the place for them.
