Residence

A residence called 'Generals Meadow' in Old Walmer, not far from the Trinity Homes. Slightly run down in appearance, but very much at the top end of the very mixed accommodation offered by Old Walmer.

Perhaps the owner was indeed a retired military man, the sort of military man who has literary tastes and who keeps the local newsagent in TLS's (see previous post). Had to have something to do when posted out into the wet & windy wilds of Scotland. Not to mention the north west frontier.
