Borage

There has been some debate here recently about the difference between green alkanet (to be found on the Epsom & Chessington platform of Raynes Park railway station) and borage (once grown on my allotment for composting purposes).

We believe this snap to be of a not very healthy borage, whereas the plant lifted from Tunbridge Wells is green alkanet.  Whatever the truth of the matter, this last plant did well in the lavender tub on the back patio, rooting nicely despite the absence of much root to begin with, and has now been transplanted into the compost behind the fence behind the new daffodil bed. It can be allowed to spread there but we shall see whether it can beat the dry brown clay and the partial shade. Snap in due course.
