Pocket brush

Following the second post of Sunday 6th April, I am now the proud possessor of a pocket brush from Pentel, with thanks to Pullingers of Epsom (http://www.pullingers.com/); a clever gadget from Japan which might be described as a fountain brush. A brush with a built in ink supply, in the way of a cartridge pen.

Early days yet and despite being very different from the much cheaper biro, the thing does have promise.

One can brush a line which varies in thickness. One can fill space. The brush kept its damp when lidded overnight and did not need to be washed before starting again. But it does requires practise to make perfect. The line immediately below 'A' was a not very successful attempt to brush a thin line, with a rather wavering result. The tail at the bottom of the line to the immediate left of 'B' wavers and it would have been quite fiddly to brush out the wavering without ending up with a much bigger line than one intended. Letters were hard. Circles not too bad (see top left) but squares rather harder (see bottom left). Not very clean at all and particularly hard to get square corners.
