Item 2, if I were a London motorist I might be a bit peeved at yet another slice of scarce road space being made over to bicycles. Not to mention all those tax pounds.
Item 3, the bit of this route that I know, say from St. George's Circus to Stonecutter Steet, is not bad for bicycles as it is. Elephant & Castle is a bit hairy, but it is hard to see what can be done about that - apart from getting off and walking when one loses one nerve.
To be fair, perhaps TFL know better. Perhaps there are a lot of bicycles involving too many accidents along this route.
