Communiqué

This is a communiqué from the Office for Murine Affairs, Epsom.

Following activity in the vegetable box in the garage, three mouse traps have been set on three successive nights, using scraps of bread crusts - both home made brown and factory white - as bait.

The results were rien, one, rien. Not counting here in the second rien the late arriving small slug which managed to graze without setting the trap off - which last I was pleased about. The one was quite large as mice go, with a two inch body excluding head and tail, and was afforded decent burial in the compost heap, where he or she will be able to rot away in peace, undisturbed by fellow vertebrates such as magpies or crows.

Given that we are now in June, all a bit odd, as we more usually get murine activity in the winter when outside food is getting scarce and the mice take chances with inside food.

The last recorded activity was back in 2007 and 2008. See reference 1.
