Depression

Rather depressed yesterday to hear about another stabbing in north London, not so far from where we once used to live, well before the actors in this new drama were born.

I had the vision, which does not accord particularly well with the facts of this particular tragedy, of our failing the children of the new millennium, failing so badly that the only way that they can get any standing & status in the world is to join that of gangs and knives. A vision fueled by the poverty and inequality which the Eton boys whom we have elected to govern us seem unable, unwilling or simply uninterested in doing anything about.

So yet another reason why I shall vote Labour in the upcoming election. They might be tainted, for me, by the stain of New Labour, but it seems more likely that they will try to do something about said poverty and inequality than the other lot. It is in their roots if not in their hair.
