At reference 1 I talked about pouring cold concrete at Watertown, suggesting that it may have been the Stratton's hardware store.
I now find that I took a few pictures and that included here has the important part of the story. Tupperlake not Watertown and Aubuchon (reference 2) not Stratton. Senior memory rides again.
My puzzle about a concrete floor for a box store - in the UK they mostly have thin, shaped steel roofs - is resolved by its resolving into the floor over a basement. This also makes heating it during the pour easier.
Note the heroism of the supervisor on the power trowel. I think here one would have had to find a Pole to do such a thing. Not that I have ever seen a power trowel, in this case, by the sound of it, some kind of a sit and ride affair.
